The 6th grade band, and many of our 7/8h graders are going to be traveling to Green Meadows Retirement Center this Tuesday. We are accepting donations of new socks for the senior citizens at Green Meadows which we are looking forward to presenting to them when we get there. Help spread some holiday cheer and bring any socks you have to the Bernheim Band Room. Also, those going on the trip need to turn in a permission slip which can be found in a link below. Thank you everyone for all of your support!

I want to welcome everyone out to our annual Holiday Concert next Thursday, December 8th at 7 pm in the Gymnasium! Attached is a document that has all of the information you will probably ever want to know about the event itself. Please let me know if you have any questions.
I am so excited to get this year started! There is so much for youto still learn in music and I am so glad I have been given the privilege to teach it. Please make sure to come ready to learn and get back into our BRUIN routines here at Bernheim. I look forward to seeing you all in class!
Field Trip: 7/8th Grade Band to Visit Cedar Grove Elementary to discuss the band program with next years new 6th graders! We will be performing and talking to the students about what a great experience band is and how you can be a part of it next year. Also Miles Ahead music company will be visiting as well to demonstrate instruments for the students afterwards!
Rental Night: Our rental night for new band members will be hosted at Bernheim Middle School in the cafeteria at 6 pm on Tuesday night. Please feel free to join us and Miles Ahead Music to test out instruments, fill out rental contracts, and learn more about what the band program has to offer you! Spring Band Concert: At 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 26th we will be having our last band concert of the year in our gymnasium. Students will need to be back at the school at 6:30 pm to get ready, rehearse, and get into positions. We will be taking donations at the concert instead of charging for tickets so if you would like to support our program that way that would be great as well! Thank you to all of those that have made all of the wonderful things we do in our music program here at Bernheim possible! There is also an informational meeting for the Bullitt Central High school marching band that night at 6 pm at their school. If you are interested please go see what they have to say before coming to the concert even if you do have to run a little late! Don't forget about after school practice on Fridays from 3:15 to 4:15 in the band room. Use this time to catch up, work ahead, whatever you need! Stay after and get better!
I just want to say that I am so proud of my students and the awesome job they did at our regional concert with Bullitt Lick. I also want to thank the students from Bullitt Lick and Mrs. Patton for all their help in making our combined concert a fantastic performance. Thank you to all of the parents who came out to see our students and what our music program here at Bernheim is able to accomplish. Again, great job guys!
KMEA Contest: March 16th, 7/8th grade students will take a field trip to Martha Layne Collins High School to perform for the festival and get assessed by professional music educators on their performance level. They will then get back to the school at around 4:00 pm that day and will need to be picked up by parents at the school. This is a mandatory event and will be part of the student's overall grade in the class.
Combined Rehearsal with Bullitt Lick: March 18th, All band students will take a trip to Bullitt Lick middle school to rehearse together before the joint concert the following week. Rehearsal will end at 4:00 pm at which time they may be picked up from Bullitt Lick middle school. This is a mandatory event and will be part of the student's overall grade in the class. I just want to say thank you to all of the students and parents that were involved in the Solo and Ensembles event this weekend! I know it was a far drive for a lot of us but this event is a great opportunity for students to test their own performance abilities and to work within small performance groups in a more formal setting. Overall, we Bernheim did a fantastic job! All of our students received either Proficient or Distinguished ratings for their performances! I cannot be more proud of my students. You guys worked hard and it payed off. great job everyone. Also, a big thank you to North Oldham High school and the District for helping organize the event and making this all happen.
Well our fundraiser has wrapped up and I am waiting on a tally to see how much we raised but I think we did a fantastic job! Thank you all for the support you have shown the band!
In other news Solo and Ensembles is coming up this Saturday at North Oldham High School. Students that have already signed up will need to arrive at least 30 minutes before their performance time to the site to get ready and find their room. Student transportation is on your own and the student will need to dress in church appropriate attire. If you need performance times come to me and I can give you those. Also, February 29th which is not this Monday but next I will be taking a few of our students down to WKU for the annual Honor band. I want to say congratulations for the students who were selected to be a part of this! I will have more details coming out about that soon. Hello all! Our Spring fundraiser started Tuesday last week and it ends next Wednesday on the 10th! If you can I would encourage everyone to participate and help our band in any way you can. I know I am trying to do the same for our school and music program. If you have any questions please let me know through my school email ([email protected]) or by calling the school. I hope everyone has had a great start to the year.
