Band:
The purpose of this class is to teach students how to play a musical instrument in a solo and ensemble type setting. Students in this class will cover the same material that the general music class does except that students will also be required to utilize the information when playing their instrument. This is to create a well rounded musician not just a performer. In addition, students will also learn about basic instrument care/maintenance, practice techniques, improvisation, and advanced instrument skills. A syllabus for this course should have already been sent home at the beginning of the year. If you have any questions about the class please feel free to contact me.

Instrumental Music:
In this class we will expand upon what we learn in general music and apply it to an instrument of our choice. Students will either pick guitar or piano to focus on during the 9 weeks. They will learn proper playing position/posture, basic playing techniques, how to read, write, and create music for this instrument and so much more! This is primarily a performance based class so most of our grades will be taken in the classroom. Students must be willing to put themselves out there on the stage and perform for their peers and teacher the skills they have been working on throughout the 9 weeks course.

We will also incorporate movement and some dance into our musical performances as well. This is a performance based class so most grades and evaluations will be based on the students' participation in class, concerts and so on.
